“Midnight Oil at Revolution Hall”

“Politically charged rock” seems to be the most common description of this iconic Australian band. Formed in 1972, Midnight Oil had international success in the 1980s and 90s with hits like “Beds Are Burning” and “Blue Sky Mine.” The lead singer, Peter Garrett, a former Aussie politician who continues to be a strong environmental activist, is not only known for his powerful vocals but also his towering height and bald head, which became symbols of this band’s image. In 2017 my wife and I were lucky enough to see Midnight Oil at our very favorite venue, Revolution Hall. It was an amazing show and it was so cool to see this legendary band in such an intimate venue. Hoping they come back to Portland again someday.
